Guided fishing and float trips in a drift boat on the blue ribbon rivers of southwest Montana.

Float Trips

Float comfortably in a McKenzie style drift boat. These stable boats are ideal for fishing on the blue ribbon rivers of Southwest Montana. While drifting down the river an angler can present his fly to literally thousands of fish, and most are hungry! Speaking of hungry, a full day trip includes a very nice streamside lunch.

Walk / Wade Trips

Walk/wade trips are perfect for fishing on the smaller trout streams like the Gallatin or the side channels of the larger rivers. These trips work well in conjunction with fly fishing instruction.

Guided fishing trips with walking or wading on smaller trout streams. These trips are excellent for fly fishing instruction by our Montana fishing guides.

Guided fishing trips in Montana for trophy lake trout.

Trophy Trout Lake Trips

Float tubes are a fun way to fish on of the many local lakes. The biggest trout in the area have been caught while fishing from a float tube. Lakes are a great place to fish if the rivers are off-color due to spring runoff.

Fly Fishing Instruction
Beginners are most welcome!

Learn to enjoy fly fishing from a skilled and patient teacher. Rodney has helped many students catch fish while instructing at Orvis-endorsed fly fishing schools.

On your Montana guided fishing trip, learn fly fishing from experienced fishing guide Rodney Campbell.

Enjoy the beauty of Montana on a scenic river float trip with Montana fishing guides.

Scenic Float Trips

Sit back in the comfortable seats of the drift boat and enjoy the spectacular scenery -- mountain peaks reaching over 11,000 feet and deer at the riverbanks!!

The Rivers

The Yellowstone River

The Yellowstone River, Rodney’s favorite, is the longest freeflowing "wild" river in the continental United States. It flows some 670 miles with no dams. The float through the Paradise Valley is one of the most scenic in Montana. This river offers four fish species; native Yellowstone Cutthroat, native Mountain Whitefish, Rainbow Trout, and Brown Trout.

Guided fishing trips on the Yellowstone, Madison, Missouri, Gallatin and many other Montana rivers.

The Missouri River

This huge river fishes like a giant spring creek and has been the best fishing in Montana for the past several years, with rainbows being caught in the 3-4 pound range. It is best to spend two days fishing and one night in Wolf Creek while fishing the "Mighty MO". There are many nice places to stay near the river.

The Madison River

The world renowned Madison River is separated into two sections, the "Upper" and the "Lower", together totaling about 120 miles of excellent trout habitat. Each section fishes very differently, depending on the time of year. The Brown Trout fishing has been good the past few years.

The Gallatin River

The upper portion of this small river is a great wading stream with an abundant population of 12" Rainbow Trout. In the lower, floatable section we fish for Rainbows and big Browns. This is a classic, freestone trout stream.

The Big Hole River

This wonderful Blue Ribbon trout stream is one my Grandfather fly-fished way back when. It is loaded with nice Rainbows and Browns with an occasional Grayling.

Many other Rivers available

Ask Rodney about the Bighorn, Bitterroot, Smith, and private spring creeks and lakes. There are many options and we can find good fishable waters anytime of year.

Testimonials

Make a Reservation with Rodney Campbell guided fishing trips for your next visit to Montana.

We've fished with Rodney for 16 years and wouldn't consider a trip to Montana without his guidance and good companionship. We've done the big rivers, the lakes, the spring creeks - just about everything - in his boat, in tubes and wading. His knowledge of habitat and fish is superior and his technique is masterful. His clients sure do catch fish. Not only that, his patience and good humor make even a slow day great fun. A bonus - our time together has resulted in a good friendship.

I really can't say enough positive things about Rodney. We've been fishing and swapping stories with him for 15 years now, and always look forward to our next visit. He's a total professional, knows Montana, and, better yet, its trout. On top of all that, he's just fun to hang out with, even on those odd days when the fish aren't as cooperative.

Jeff Yonover, Flossmoor, IL

Rodney Campbell has provided professional guide services for us for the past 16 years. We return each year to fish with our friend, who is a fine representative of Montana's rivers and streams.

Dear Rodney, I suppose there's one than one or two guides to be had for the purpose in Bozeman, and more still elsewhere. For me, however, that is more information than I require. Like all professionals, one shows up because of the underlying business relationship. What one does thereafter is the result of professionalism and personality. I know that I need not look further when I return for flyfishing. I don't want to turn your head with flattery, but I hope you will accept these accolades as earnestly offered. Your patience with the rawest of beginners; your obvious love of the sport; and your keen appreciation of Montana; and your heritage; not to mention your skills, make you one of the best guides I have ever met. I am incompetent to truly judge your abilities (other than vastly superior to mine), but if you are not among the best, I am sure that when the best get together they call you "Sir". You made that day on the Gallatin a memory I'll never forget. Thank you.

William T. Johnson, Beaumont, TX

Rarely do you find an individual like Rodney Campbell. He is an outstanding guide with the unique ability to select the right fly and technique to tempt and deceive that most observant trout. In addition to providing excellent fishing services, we enjoy his good conversation and superior instruction (which we often need). We cannot conceive of fishing in the Bozeman area without him. Therefore, for the last 13 years we have made reservations a year in advance to ensure that Rodney will be available to guide us during our next visit to Montana.

Sue Farmer, Springfield, VA

Dear Rodney, We made it back to the fast-paced, not-peaceful town of Los Angeles, and already we miss Montana. I have to compliment you on not just being an excellent guide and teacher for Mark, but becoming a true friend. It was terrific spending those three glorious days on three different rivers. It is a trip we will never forget, and we plan to come back.
-
Lynn and Mark Lewis, Los Angeles, CA

Rodney, just wanted to say thanks again for a great day of fishing on the Yellowstone River. I can honestly say that I had one of the most memorable fishing experiences of my life. Those two days fishing with you, I not only caught fish, but I learned more than all the other years I've been fishing combined. Working on another trip for next year. Thanks again.
-
Ed Dunn, Ojai, CA

For forty-five years I've been fishing the great rivers of Montana. During these years I've had the priviledge of utilizing the services of many guides, and none is better than Rodney Campbell.
-
Max Isley, Durham, NC

Our annual father-son fishing trip is more than catching plenty of gorgeous wild trout, but also a chance to share the raw beauty of the land, wildlife, and the river. A shared experience that will endure over the years. Rodney understands that!
-
Art & Derek Michaud, Tyngsboro, NY

I had to wait to return to work to get to a computer so I could thank you again for an absolutely fantastic time. Dave and I are still talking about it every time we are together. I hope to come out next year and have you take us out again.
-
Gary Dix, Commerce Township, MI

Thanks again for the great time on Monday and Tuesday. We'll be in touch about next summer's trip!
